Boston, summer 2018
Epic things to do in Boston:
Freedom Trail
Wander or bike around the city
Harbor Cruise
Attend a game
Eat
Explore along the Freedom Trail – take a tour, download an app, or just take your time and soak in the history! The trail is all walkable at about 2.5 miles and you can start in anywhere along the route.

Take a Harbor Cruise - We took the Albert Clipper; a tall ship sunset cruise and it was epic! Of course, I love to sail and be on the water, so this was a highlight to me. And the VIEWS! Wow! We got the most epic pictures of Boston as the sun set.

Wander around the city - the different neighborhoods and the harbor front. Stop along the route for a beer or a clam chowder, chat with the locals. Everyone is super friendly! Feel the vibes of the different neighborhoods. Also, there are plenty of colleges and universities to check out here – including Harvard, Boston College and Boston University to mention only a few….

Attend a game – Home of the Patriots, Celtics and Red Sox teams
Rent a Blue Bike and head towards Southie and the beaches – or just kind of out of the fray and hoards of people. You can see a lot and cover a lot of ground, get a little exercise and have fun. Stop at “the lawn on D” for a picture on the circle swings, then continue to reach the beach areas, enjoying the cobblestone streets and brownstones of the residential areas. There are also several bike trails – The Charles River Trail or Greenway, The Minuteman Bikeway and Southwest Corridor Park.

Cold/Rainy Days –
Take a brewery tour or at the least try some Boston brewed beers – Harpoon Brewery, Samuel Adams, Trillium Brewing, Dorchester Brewing Company and Backlash Beer Company
Go to the library – seriously! It is a beautiful and unique building in the Back-Bay Area and even has a café and a radio studio on site.
Isabella Museum – I have not been – I’m saving it for my next rainy day in Boston – but I have heard from others that this museum is the best one
Epic Coffee Shops -in Everett- Common Grounds Coffee Roasters. Try the Vanilla Chia and the cheese bread balls
North End – Tradesmen Coffee - Don't miss the homemade goodies and pastries.
Epic Eats – Everything! Really how can you possibly narrow it down – have a cup of clam chowder, eat a lobster roll, and head the North End for some of the best pasta ever (reservations are recommended).
If you love cocktails, try out Parla. They have a secret cocktail menu and you can play Dungeon Master, and roll the dice, and be presented with the corresponding cocktail. We had a blast and the pasta was great too!
Overall – I really like Boston! I didn’t mean to like it as much as I do, but the more you get to know the city – you can’t help but start to fall in love with it. The people are friendly and fun to listen to. The food is outstanding. The city is full of so much to see and do. And I do love just being there and feeling like I am living in the middle of “history”. You cannot be in Boston, surrounded by all this history and not feel the tug of your American heritage speaking to your core.
This summer was my third trip to Boston and my first trip with warm weather, which I enjoyed. I was here once before in November and it was chilly but still doable, and I was here once in March and the weather was way too cold and windy for me. Just plan your visit and dress accordingly to the seasons.
